Rain today

Walking in the woods yesterday like walking in a green pool.
Slowly feeling the ground
softening beneath.

The clouds,
one dissolved while I was looking at it,
like watching the bottom of a boat disappear beneath your feet,
but instead of drowning you float as if you have no body at all.

We think we are standing upright looking at the sky,
But really there is no up, no down, no sky,
just space and rain.

Rain today
the silver luxury of it rustling like paper around a gift,
like a voice throaty from many years of laughing.
Rain like ice-cream, rain like silk. Rain plump as skin in a skincare ad, hyaluronic acid-rain, peptide rain, Botox rain.

Full-fat rain.
Warm rain.
Pulsing like a heartbeat in every drop.
